Wow. Can Heebus pay for the years of therapy this is going to entail? (PS: Dibs on the guy in the yellow shirt when he finally realizes what a crock this is.)

As much as I agree that organized religion is almost always a negative thing, I think we're being a little too harsh on these kids. Yes, what happens in this video is pretty terrible. But I think the thing we atheists and agnostics forget is that religion is not just something people do. It is often a huge part of peoples' identities. And to expect religious people, even the LGBTQ ones, to abandon that part of their identity overnight is unfair. There's a really interesting story about it in this weekend's New York Times magazine: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/19/magazine…. Yes, these young people will still be attracted to the same sex after that alter call, and hopefully, they will eventually move closer to having their sexual orientation as the larger part of their identities, but I don't think it is fair to expect them to abandon religion, especially if it is something deeply ingrained in them practically from birth and they are surrounded by religious people. Let's hope, but let's not judge.

I think that was a good opportunity for the boys who like boys to meet boys who like boys and the girls who like girls to meet girls who like girls.

These kinds of things should be deemed illegal. Yeah, I`ll go toe to toe with him. And with anyone with that superiority complex. And even more if it`s hurting or causing this kind of damage.

Please wait...
