Is there any talk of getting Goldthwaite any more playtime? He seemed to really be helping push the tempo, getting everyone energized, and he made several great plays (defensive as well as that back-footed goal).

Now I agree Goldthwaite had a good game, but he was also the one mainly responsible for the game-tying goal in the 5th minute of injury time.

His shoddy clearance that kept the ball in play is practically inexcusable and is fully reflective of our inability to play out the *entire* game. We become vulnerable in the last 5 minutes almost on cue. We need to play smart until the ref blows the whistle, and in this game we certainly didn't. Our gaping defense was practically asking for an early midfield cross. And when it actually happened, a sprinting Goldthwaite could only manage a shit, inbounds clearance (that thing should have been in the stands). We put the 3 points out there for the taking. And take away they did.

Luckily this is our first mls season, so it's a bit easier to look on losses as mistakes to learn from, but man it ain't easy to watch us give it away as often as we do.

@ mhulth - he could've easily headed the ball back to Perkins, as well. but you're correct in that his clearance was pathetic and directly led to the goal.

Wallace sticking his arm out there on the cross wasn't the most brilliant idea, either.

I'd be surprised if Goldthwaite is on the team past the summer transfer window. He is ridiculously overpaid, slow, and past his prime. He only saw the field because we were down Horst and Futty. If Purdy had been here instead of with El Salvador Goldy would have never seen the field.

Please wait...
