This movies alright and all, but I dunno if I'd call it an advancement from John Ford or H Hawks westerns.
Sergio Leone a virtuoso? Hmm...
I guess that would have to make Sam Peckinpahs Ride the High Country, and especially The Wild Bunch works of inspired genius then.
He kicks ass all over these others mentioned.

@1 - Oh, by "advancement," I didn't mean that it's better than Ford/Hawks/etc, just that it's what came after.

And damn straight Leone's a virtuoso. Peckinpah's not too shabby either.

Sometimes it seems to me Leone was rather sloppy with his camera work.
But everything you listed is cool.
