My concern is that the show won't stay on Friday night. At some point it will go up against the big block of new shows on SyFy, an NBC holding, and they won't want to compete for the same demographic on their two networks at once.
My guess is Grimm will lose out and get moved and risk losing its audience as well.
encephalopath: Worse yet, it's premiering against Game 7, which is just bad luck all around. But you're right - Friday is a notoriously tough night ("Chuck" has struggled there its entire run), and the SyFy block will definitely risk splitting the audience.
I think it's also up against Supernatural and Fringe which draws from the same crowd. Both of which are getting a bit tired so maybe some new blood in the mix will shake things up a bit.

I hope the writers don't stay too dark with the stories. I liked the bits of comedy that you saw in Buffy.
I figure someone must've made that joke already, but a cursory search didn't turn it up, so here it is.
