B9 looks a little short to be a stormtrooper.

How cute are those horsey visors? It's like they're horses from the future.
4
Why is everyone whining about the pepper spray? I've seen people hit by worse at the perfume counter at Nordstroms.

It looks like the girl was messing with the officer before trying to run off, and he took her down from behind with his bike, right?
6
The bike takedown was pretty egregious. Though he may have been trying to clumsily bar her way, rather than knock her down.

The tear-gassed girl may not have deserved tear-gassing, but she didn't look like she was giving peace signs and saying peaceful protest.

The kids getting batoned kept pushing back into the line. They were taking on the cops. Gutsy, but you have to expect to get whacked.

No, that's just it... You shouldn't have to "expect to get whacked" for a little gutsy posturing. Yeah they were being a bit antagonistic, but more in trying to hold their ground or stand as close as possible to the police line. Or possibly trying to remain on the sidewalk since they were getting forced out into the street so that the police could protect Chase Bank. Hardly worthy of a shove, let alone taking a baton in the face, or the gut, or getting pepper spray point blank in the face, or tripped from behind by a bike... I mean come on! That's even a penalty in football!!

Police and occupied cities across the country need to realize that this response to these protests isn't going to end them, if anything it will strengthen them. The level of assets being deployed daily is highly unnecessary, agitates things until they wind up turning violent, and is unsustainable over the long-term. Then again, that's part of the issue we're at odds with... This country doesn't plan well for the long-term.

Would somebody please spritz Andy with some pepper spray? Mostly so they'll STFU and stay in Beaver-tron since they obviously hate Portland so very much. Why do you even bother coming to this site at all? Just to see if you can can become "top asshole" in the comments? Honestly, go over to the Tribune's or the O's website, they would positively adore you there and you can make some friends and have some joy in your life. Really though, please leave and don't ever return.

The "bike takedown" girl reminds me of one of those annoying soccer floppers. The bike bumps into her from behind and both he legs miraculously go shooting out in front of her. Very dramatic but I don't think it was convincing enough for a yellow card.

Lewton’s gun is a rubber bullet or pepper ball gun, I believe. The canister on the side appears to be an air canister for propellant. The tear gas guns are more simple, less technical, and more militant in appearance.

Also, +1 for the “bike cops are alright” story. Many of them have been kind and conversant.

"Would somebody please spritz Andy with some pepper spray?"
I feel the peace, love and non-violence from the tolerant left.

"Mostly so they'll STFU and stay in Beaver-tron since they obviously hate Portland so very much."
Disgusted, my screen name is 'Andy FROM Beaverton', not 'Andy IN Beaverton'. I would give you my exact location, but I'm afraid you and the OccuTards would want to assault me.

Peaceful protesters respect private property and public right of ways. If you refuse a lawful command issued by riot police, it's not going to end well. The cops in Davis were clearly outnumbered and a bit worried about their flanks. Can't say I wouldn't be scared if I was surrounded by a chanting mob of hipsters.

@bruce123456, Great point about the cause for concern about being surrounded by a mob of chanting hipsters. I'm also scared of grass because it's made up of, y'know, blades. Eeeeek!

Please wait...
