Great idea, but... no stability. It would be great if you screwed it to the floor or had a base wide enough that the cat would be standing on it while scratching. The reasons why cats like furniture over most scratching posts? It doesn't move.

The problem with something this pricey is that cats reserve the right to ignore it. Then it ends up in your garage sale for five bucks, or next to a dumpster.

Also: "self-generating" bamboo? You mean, like...it grows?
