This city is just going to disappear up its own asshole someday.
2
Can we note that this project features Portland's sexiest dude, Nolan Calisch? http://www.portlandmercury.com/portland/po…
3
Couldn't we have "People's Grimm" instead? Let's show those Hollywood bigwigs what real Northwestern animal-people look like!
4
Cue Graham posting Michael Scott's "no, no, god no".
5
@ Todd

Better than whatever I was going to say.
6
Can we at least replace the real P-landia with more from these guys? It's honestly much funnier.
7
Todd Mecklem for Comment Of The Year.
8
shaitan,

Because of the irony?
9
That's Portland's sexiest dude Mirk? Looks like all the other dead fish eyed bearded dorks I see everyday...btw i agree with Todd Mecklam. This town is getting preposterous
10
Awesome that PSU's MFA students are getting to work on a sophomore year group thesis. It's sad that a promising program has been progressively replacing originality with notoriety.
11
Portlandia isn't funny, and neither was that.
12
Portlandia is funny enough. It's a parody of hipster culture - a culture worth poking fun of - and Portland just happens to be the setting.
13
Yeah... totally what Todd said.
14
It has a goat in it, its totally funny to me. Thats all I need.

@C&B: AT THIS POINT, TWO-THIRDS OF THE POSTS NEED THAT YOUTUBE CLIP EMBEDDDED IN THEM. I WANT SOMETHING NEW, PREFERABLY WITH THE MOTIFF OF "KILL IT WITH FIRE"
17
Just as some confuse the map with the territory, it seems others confuse parody/satire with their targets.

I love Portlandia and I have a feeling this series will produce some fine humor as well. That video was hilarious! AND I love Portland! I feel bad for all the snarky commenters out there.

Haters gonna hate...

kitty!

@Jonathan: I think I speak for many of us when I say that the problem is not that we aren't Portlandia's strawman hipster targets, it's that the show's parody isn't very funny or really even Portland specific at all.

AND I love Portland!
20
Yeah they are both funny. But this is good because it gives homegrown C&B and friendlydave, and those who think P-landia is "not funny", an opportunity to do better. I mean, if you a connoisseur of Funny, then why do you just sound boring and critical? I bet you don't even know how many ears Davy Crockett has.

I am planning a new cinema verite in which dorky Vegan fixie riding "hipsters" are attacked by bums and beaten senseless (errr.....more senseless than they already were that is), let's call Bum Fights II.....Bums VS Dorks
22
I hate Portlandia. It's emphasis on (and participation in) the whole pre-fab self-conscious whimsical wackiness that's supplanted the authentic weirdness of Portland disgusts me. But more importantly, it's at best sporadically, mildly amusing.

Fred Armisen embodies everything I loathe about the hordes of tragically trendy newcomers who have fucked everything up. Carrie Brownstein is a comic genius and deserves a less embarrassing vehicle (and partner.)

PS: I second the nomination of Todd Mecklem's post as Comment Of The Year.
