Haley Barbour is a Republican, not a Democrat
2
FUCKING SHIT, SMIRK. HALEY BARBOUR IS A REPUBLICAN. HE WAS EVEN GODDAMNED CHAIRMAN OF THE SHITCUNTED REPUBLICAN PARTY FOR A WHILE IN THE 1990'S. BUT WHATEVER; FACTS, SHMACTS.
3
@ MrFabulous: That is not a very fabulous thing to say.
4
Wow, Oregon looks a lot more sparse than I thought we would. Wood?

And...are those lines in the midwest...rivers? Or what?
5
@Graham - The person you're describing sounds like a pretty lame Democrat for sure.
6
Haley Barbour is THE Republican. Former chair of the RNC and Republican Governors Association with a background lobbying for RJ Reynolds and Phillip Morris.
7
Putting aside all of the cultural and political baggage, and without having seen the video: I don't think there's anything all that bad about pissing on the corpse of someone who moments ago was doing everything they could to kill you and your friends. Further, I'd think the same (or worse) would happen if the roles were reversed.

That's just me, though.
8
@Commenty - I thought the same thing, in my dank lizard brain, but I'm surprised to see someone type it out loud. Kudos to you.

I mean, implied in that story is that those four marines just KILLED the four other guys, right? That's fine, that doesn't even deserve a mention, but pissing on the corpse is international news? We're sure strange, as a people.
9
@COMMENTARY COLLIN: IF WE PUT ASIDE ALL OF OUR CULTURAL AND POLITICAL BAGGAGE, WE ARE LITTLE MORE THAN BARBARIANS. FUCK THAT NOISE. ALSO, THOSE SOLIDERS WERE VIOLATING THE GENEVA CONVENTION BY DESECRATING THE CORPSES OF FALLEN SOLDIERS.
10
@ 7 & 8: Huh? Why are you guys playing the devil's advocate on this? I know that starting internet shit-storms is kind of your bread and butter, but it doesn't make either of you sound good to go "eh, nbd" on something like this. I mean, you could say that "it would be worse if the roles were reversed" for tons of shit, that doesn't mean that the US military gets a pass for being disgusting and disrespectful.
11
Israeli soldiers throw babies into a fire in Jenin, no one in America bats an eye and we continues to dole out billions in aid to our allied little brother. Israel likewise breaches the Geneva Conventions by using phosphorous shells in Lebanon and fires American-made missiles into an ambulance full of children there, and still nothing. Marines desecrate the corpses of enemy combatants and suddenly we're outraged and investigating. Go figure.
12
@Joneser - No, and I've got faith that the four marines will get dishonorable discharges, like they should. But it seems strange that no one comments on the quadruple murder that happened just before the video. That's just fine! Good job, guys. But god forbid you mess with the body of the person you just killed.

I think is right, Oregonometry:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/hal…

I read till some part, but my connection didn't load up the rest of the article, so to talk over here a little bit. Or was the way I read it keeping me from so. Anyway he is the one of many who lobbied for RJ Reynolds and Phillip Morris at least back in 2011 or so. And he lobbied for awful causes too.

If this where a current article, I would post immediately after every pressing of articles containing tissues like these, but I would be too, erm, lazy and give up and stop after a week or so.
14
@ Joneser, I'm on the same page as Reymont. Killing is fine, but disrespect is absolutely unconscionable. It's perverse to begin with, and given the unbelievably schizophrenic expectations we have of our armed forces, I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.
15
*Issues.
16
@Reymont/#4: Those are indeed river lands and deltas. The large one in the middle is referred to as the Mississippi river delta (even though it's technically too far inland to be a delta). If you ever go there, you will see that there are in fact little to no trees.
17
Every soldier for any army is a heartless baby-killer. They kill and piss on us, we kill and piss on them. The fact that anyone is even a little surprised by this is kind of sad.

We are primates and we act like primates, we only imagine that we are devine beings.
18
Sorry about the Democrat/Republican flub -- Governor's party affiliation is fixed now! Thanks.

Also, I'm glad everyone cares so much about trees.
19
@Scrum Yummy - thanks!
20
Speaking of aboveground woodies......
21
Also, CC's comment plus +++, especially if the deceased are terrorists that kill innocent women and children.
22
I served in the Marine Corps for 8 years and saw action. I have never peed on a dead enemy combatant (can't say it crossed my mind, also as a sniper I did not have time for such frivolities). To me these 4 men have disgraced the Marine Corps. This is NOT what we stand for. As for those of you posting comments....how does firing upon an ARMED enemy combatant constitute murder you fucking idiot? How do you know what happened? (you don't). Have you seen how Iraqi and Afghanistani "rebels" desecrated of American kia's and captured Americans they murdered (as in shot/decapitated an unarmed defenseless person)? Now they're upset? Fuck them. These Marines will be dishonorably discharged as they should be, pardon me If I have little respect for the Taliban to begin with or anyone in this country that supports them
23
I wouldn't think our troops would be driving Kias over there, Showstopper. What happened to humvees? And how were the cars desecrated?
24
are'nt we a little comedian eh Oregonmetry? KIA=killed in action, but you knew that. You just wanted to make your stupid little hipster joke. I am highly relieved I did not have to rely on assclowns such as yourself during that 8 years. Btw, how very Portland of you....No, wait it is'nt. Because many people in this city are not smart ass clowns
25
@The Showstopper - So they were firing at you. Where were you again? Portland? Gresham? No, you were in their country. Are you surprised they were upset? Do you think they were totally unjustified in wanting you to leave?

And for the record, I did four years in the Army. Doesn't mean I'll blindly argue that all wars are justified.
26
@Reymont, thank you for your service. I would argue that most wars are unjustified. For the record the US and other militaries are in Afghanistan partially at the request of their government. The taliban are fucking scum and terrorists and do NOT speak for the majority of the Afghan people. Also for the record I was in Somalia...the US was there along with the UN peacekeepers for distribution of food. The only "people" that did'nt want us there were the Militias so they could go back to stealing food from their people in "their country" and gang raping women. Don't worry, we left and Mogadishu is an even bigger mess than it was then. If you were in the Army, and were deployed and fired upon would you go try and shake hands with them? (I am wondering if you were). I was referring to the Marines in the video, not myself incidentally. I know you Army types are'nt very swift, lol

Please wait...
