Another post that reads plainly like the advertorial that it basically is. Nothing against Marjorie personally, it just seems like none of the fashion/style posts are filtered through any particular viewpoint as a writer. It's just, here's this new thing that's great and that you should go buy. No context, critical voice, or commentary.
Just my two cents.

That lady's sweatshirt is really stretched out.

@1: Cut her some slack. I suppose the End Hits posts are just, here's this new band that's great and you should go buy their record.

Marjorie's posts are meant to keep people abreast of what's going on in the major boutiques, sales, etc. What exactly do you think is missing?

Hmmm. I can see I,A's point.

Geyser, reading this blog certainly requires finding a good system for sifting through and finding posts that actually interest you. If I was actually reading all the video game and romance posts, i'd be Lana del Rey by now.

Well, I don't expect everything to interest me, but I'd be more interested to hear more of Marjorie's own voice come through: some opinion that isn't just "this is new and great and go check it out." I realize that's the best way to give people a heads-up about things that are happening, but I think there's also a place for commentary about what's happening to give a broader feel for the bigger picture and what this journalists finds particularly vital about what certain designers are doing. Instead, what I get is the impression that everything is equally great and new. There are a few exceptions to this, naturally.

PS I wrote @1 before seeing the I,A offensive, so I regret the timing, even though I meant this in a constructive-criticism, my-personal-opinion way.

@ geyser, thanks for the feedback. I really do make an effort to insert my opinions in my fashion/retail coverage where appropriate. A pretty straight-up news item about an event and related relocation doesn't seem to especially call for much more than what I've done here (it's hard, for instance, to critique clothing prior to something happening, since it's anyone's guess which specific items will be there) but I'll take it under consideration nonetheless.

Oh yeah, what I,A offensive? The photo thing? That's Una's photo, not mine, although we all take a lot our own photos. We're a tiny company. So what?

Please wait...
