A small complaint: I also understand that not every Christian is a bigot. But I always get weirded out when they claim to follow Jesus's teachings in lieu of what somebody a couple hundred years later said.

So...you know that there's no direct quotations from Jesus at all -anywhere- except in what those people writing two-to-four hundred years later had to say, right? Doesn't make you any less nice, let me point out.
