I think Amanda Fritz has been a very useful voice on the City Council, and I have been totally unimpressed with Mary Nolan's vicious campaign against her. As nearly as I can tell, Nolan only decided to run for City Council because she burned too many bridges in Salem, doesn't feel like commuting down there anymore, and would like to make politics her full-time job.

AMANDA FRITZ IS THE MOST BORING PERSON IN PORTLAND POLITICS. I DEMAND A CITY COUNCL MEMBER THAT BRINGS MORE LULZ.

Don't forget her narrow-sighted work against upgrading the Timbers and (what's now) Jeld-Wen Field. She was right to demand the protection of the general fund, but once Paulson agreed to that, along with the other concessions he'd made it became a serious sweetheart deal...for the City. Obviously it's brought Portland publicity and attention you can't buy, and anybody who said there wasn't the fan base missed the boat.

But we probably need a nooj on Council to keep folks from losing their heads, fiscally speaking. And she really does try to learn as much as she can about issues and processes, even if her conclusions don't always make sense to me.

Finally, I cannot get past Nolan's campaign, and the way it reminds me of the utter smear job she was 1/2 part of in the Novick/Merkley race, smearing Steve for "smearing" Merkley about his tepid statements on the Iraq War in 2004 compared to his own. There was an honest disagreement to be had about what Merkley meant with his vote (and what other options he had), but to come out that late in the race and slam Novick personally was a serious black mark for her in my book.

Thank you Mercury! I was paralyzed in filling out my ballot, this helps my decision.

PS Amanda Fritz is the only person running for office that showed up at an event to save Outdoor School for David Douglas 6th graders, which I appreciated, and reminded me that she goes to events for communities all over Portland all the time.

That's because she doesn't have anything else to do but blog because they took management of most things away from her.

I didn't vote Fritz first time around, but will gladly this time. If for nothing else, she hasn't gotten all the public unions going for her as has Nolan.
I met Fritz at the Waterfront by chance. Nice woman.

Amanda Fritz is for lack of any other description - the only chic on a all boy ( who dont like girls) ass clown circus. Portland Mercury how dare you ? When you sit so proudly in every patchioli filled, dread treaded bistro, coffee spot, tattoo parlor and yes even strip clubs in Portland, and you actually endorse this Commisioner that not only lacks the will or way to voice her own opinion but refuses to stand up and voice ours. She let gay guys bully her into submission- WE DONT WANT FLUORIDE IN OUR WATER !!! She had a right to vote against that for us ( and she is the only 1 that suggested providing fluoride in schools to provide healthy teeth for kids and avoid riots with the rest of us) But she voted it in because she is a coward or a flunky either way - fritz needs to GTFO with the other guys who are taking that money they got for this and not seeking a seat next term, imagine that.
