The writer totally *IGNORES* the fact there is a Dem majority in the Senate. If it was such a great idea (and not election year douchebaggery) why didn't the Dem's pass it?

Lay the blame where it belongs.

You do realize every single Senate Democrat and the 2 Independents voted for this legislation, right? In order for the act to move forward it needed 60 yes votes, instead it only got a majority of 52 votes against 47 no votes. Not one Republican voted for this act and 8 needed to for it to move forward.

Yes, I do. It means that the D's did not have an argument persuasive to make any R's cross party lines. Not that passing it was their intent anyway.

They knew the way the vote would go. They are just pandering to woman voters. Nothing gets past the House and Senate within 6 months of a general election.

And, before you complain about a party voting as a block, the Dem's did this while Bush was President all the time. A Dem wouldn't vote for a cure for cancer if it was introduced by a Republican...

It's just so much election year bullshit.
