Good For Fritz!

Nolan is taking lots of money from The usual places: developers & attorneys. And yes, unions. Just Check her record on Orestar.

If Nolan isn't hearing about Campaign Finance Reform out on the campaign trail - in these post-Citizens United days - then she isn't talking to average people. After all, people who can donate a thousand bucks to a City Council candidate aren't likely to be opposed to Big Money Politics.

It's too bad that Mary Nolan is so out of touch with the people of Portland and requires the support of developers and attorneys who hope to influence her. Her statement that Portlanders don't care about campaign reform is far from the truth. The vote was not to use public money for campaigns, not a referendum on the ugly politics of large donors controlling elections. Would Mary Nolan be willing to take only $250 from individuals and no union or corporate donations? Does she care enough to invest her personal savings in an effort to represent Portlanders? Rather than speak negatively about Amanda Fritz's choice, she should take the high road and follow Amanda's lead.
