If you're looking for adjustments, or a good way to do "clean" humor, talk to Kermet Apio, or even Ian Karmel. It can be done, and it can be done well. Harness the power and practice, practice, practice. Reaching a mainstream audience effectively (i.e. having solid "PG-13" humor) is key to a lasting and profitable comedy career. If Carlin can do it, anyone can.
Carlin did it for years, but when he felt like he could do what he wanted he got filthy. I'm not saying I can't do clean, I do all the time. But it's less fun and the audience enjoys it less.
