This article sucks. Yeah Mirk, 34k Oregonians can now be denied healthcare coverage after they go to the doctor, great! We need to remember that in 2008 and 2009 there was a fairly unified demand from people in-the-know about Healthcare, it was really simple: Universal Healthcare. Lots of Liberals wanted it, including Obama before he became President, and lots of Doctors wanted it too. Like the Metric system, the whole rest of the world uses a Universal Healthcare system except us backwater idiots in the United States.

Then, to capitulate with Republicans for political gain, Obama’s team borrowed Mitt Romney’s policies, an idea that came out conservative think-tank who purpose was to enrich insurance companies: an Individual Mandate. This idea was complete fucking tyranny: “You, Citizen, must go buy healthcare insurance from a private company.” This wasn’t even half-assed on Obama’s side, it was a total collapse of the dream of affordable healthcare for everyone. Not only that, but it sets an incredibly dangerous precedent that the government can mandate to you that you must give your money to a private organization: in this case, a massive corporation. To whitewash the corrosive elements of this legislation, the media (like the fuck’n Mercury) focuses on the number of people who can now leach off of their parent’s incredibly expensive insurance.

Obamacare provides only slight benefits for a marginal number of citizens at the great expensive of condemning millions of Americans into purchasing something they can’t afford. It doesn’t fix shit about what’s wrong with our healthcare: it’s too fuck’n expensive. Obama’s healthcare plan sucks for everyone except massive corporations.

I expect the Individual Mandate to be ruled unconstitutional, I doubt the law in total will be struck down. We must remember, too, that the only Constitutional purposes of the federal government are very, very limited. The only way the Federal Government can enact healthcare reform legitimately is with a Constitutional Amendment, requiring 2/3rds approval in both houses, which won’t happen anytime soon.

This cartoon is really funny. I initially didn't care about the millions of uninsured people in America, but now I do. I guess humor really is better than reasoned, fact-driven arguments that appeal to people's brains.

Looking for a "the last time I saw a doctor Back to the Future was a new release and ouch my pancreas" button. Not seeing it.
