The website was pretty clear that this wasn't an event for hardcore-runners-who-take-themselves-entirely-too-seriously. Groups of friends could have fun together, even if all the friends aren't marathoners. Money was raised for Child Aid. If all that makes you GAG, stay away.
Kellacious, I'm pretty sure this is not a non-profit enterprise. I've skimmed some of the articles in the press section, and haven't seen any mention of non-profit status. Money was raised for a charity, yes. But what's the ratio of profit / charity? As Alex noted so well, this is mostly just an opportunity for participants to get a new profile pic.
