Never heard of it!

I've been called a cold-hearted person for voicing this opinion already, but I dunno if this is going to work.

They've been pitching this to studios for like, 2 years now, yes? Fincher has been pitching it, he's openly attached, and Blur studios has had a trailer/sizzle reel available for awhile now. And apparently all the studios they've taken this to have passed in the face of Fincher backing the premise.

This Kickstarter is asking 400k from fans so that they can put together storyboards and record more dialog from Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti, to then take it around to the same studios who rejected it already with Fincher's name attached and a fully produced trailer with Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti voicing the characters. If that didn't sell potential investors, I don't know how this will.

I mean - I think it's ridiculous that no studio in the industry is willing to cough up some money to David Fincher to finance a really funny zombie action comedy, especially one based on a phenomenal comic such as The Goon. But I get the sense fans might not realize what they're contributing to isn't a new Goon movie, but in fact a 400k pitch reel that wouldn't be seen by anyone until it was a bonus feature on the home-video release, should the film actually get made.

That said - there are worse things to spend $25 bucks on than the hope this thing finally gets off the ground.

I like The Goon but I don't have an overwhelming desire to see a movie made of it. I love Hellboy, but I've only seen the first movie once and never bothered with the second. Call me weird.

Hellboy II is miles better than the first. In fact, the year it came out, I thought it was a better superhero movie than Iron Man.

OK, I'll watch it.

Please wait...
