Can you point to any analyses that estimate the economic benefits of Last Thursday? I keep hearing about how expensive it is, and I know it's a pain in the ass for residents, but I'd like to know something about the benefits side as well. You know, to have an informed opinion. Have you considered surveying Alberta Street merchants?

I'm sure that Mississippi merchants love the Mississippi Street Fair too. They love it enough to pay for permits, toilets, security, etc. for themselves.

Makes sense Blabby. I have no love for subsidies myself. I'd just like to see an economic impact or cost/benefit analysis of the event. Seems like a good topic for a Master's thesis, if nothing else.

What possible incentive does FoTL have to do anything if the city will just keep paying for everything and doing all the work?

If no one steps up to take control of the event, the city should just shut it down.
