I sincerely doubt if there are any craftsmen left alive today who possess the necessary skills to either build fix those old bridges. You can hire as many fly by night handymen as you want, but the job will never get done right. Bridges have already collapsed in Seattle. I'll bet what the public isn't being told, is just exactly how dangerous our bridges really are.

I sincerely doubt that Chef Multnohmann knows jack shit about craftsmen or bridge construction, but he sure can speculate with the dumbest of them.

Rename it the Jim Morrison Bridge, sell t-shirts to tourists, use the money for bridge repair and maintenance. (And heroin.)

That bridge is 60 miles north of Seattle, but thanks for playing.

Jim Morrison lived on Love Street and supposedly died in France. Whether the bridge in Washington collapsed in the same city as the paper that reported the incident or not, the Morrison Bridge is still in Portland, but how much longer before a shit load of bicyclists ends up in the Multnomahn's Willamette? On second thought, leave the bridge the fuck alone.
