Jesus Fucking Christ, Denis! I cannot believe you're really ragging on 60 Minutes like that. Remember when they fucking broke the Abu Ghraib story? And if you say one bad thing at all about Andy Rooney, I will walk over to your offices, hold you down and shave your beard off.

He was my favorite thing about it! So I won't say a word about him. I should be more charitable, maybe. But that was a long time ago now, in media years.

PS: I'm cleanshaven these days.

In a world where we all constantly decry the stupid needs of the 24-hour news cycle to fill every possible moment with content even when there is no content or news to show; I'd think that we'd be all in favor of a news program that was more thoughtful and deliberative in its methodology.

There is a great deal of news and content that is not shown or covered. This is not new. It is just that most media (including this publication which is admittedly not taking everything seriously) cover MTV news: what is hot, splashy, contentious etc. When was that last time there was anything but fragmented and spun news from most parts of Africa or Asia aside from blurbs? Agree with you that 60 minutes was a good show, and actually included journalism, and agree with your final point.
