Got any info on the "community meeting"? Neighborhood Assn. related/hosted? Got links?

The upcoming "Community Meeting" mentioned in the article is open to the public - please come! - will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13th, from 6-8pm at Classic Foods, 817 NE Madrona St, Portland OR.

I am a regular and huge fan of Cafe 11 and Florio Bakery, and am hugely displeased at this location being considered as a TriMet layover spot! It is the gateway to this neighborhood, a lovely, gardened, popular neighborhood destination and hang-out, and has really helped this neighborhood become more residential, neighborly, and beautified. Replaced by a TriMet lot?!? When there is a different lot available nearby whose owner might be interested in selling, rather than having this location be seized from an unwilling owner? Just not right.

I've lived in close proximity to this corner for two years now. And in the time I've lived here I've watched the neighborhood evolve. It would be a shame for this to be the future for this space when so many other more neighborhood friendly developments could be placed here. It would also be a shame to put this here for the safety of the neighborhood. There have been three stabbing at other Trimet layover stops In the last year. All it would take is one unfortunate crime for all the hard work to clean up woodlawn's reputation to be destroyed.

I totally agree with the other comments that the coffee shop has been a positive to the neighborhood. To hear that the owner would like to further improve the corner sounds exciting. To take these great improvements away and replace with a bus lot? Why step backward when we are moving forward in a positive way.
