Unemployed, in your 30's and living off your parents? Fuck you. Go back to Iowa.
2
You can have my shitty job when I'm done with it. Happy?
3
How hard up are you lots of call centers hiring its a shit job mostly but gets you off having an allowance
4
You realize that when a person that already has a job takes a job, it opens up their previous job, right?

@Never Alone: Couldn't have said it any better.

@Oregometry. I quess that makes YOU both douches. How do you know this person's circumstances? You don't. At least they are eager to work unlike most of the hipster POS I see on a daily basis. How very fucking Portland of you (sarcasm intended there Mr Mayor)

Really, Showstopper? You're defending the 30-something person living off parental support and whining about other people applying for jobs? Based on the demographic information given, this person sounds like the many, many people I have met that naively pick up and move to Portland without any contacts or jobs because it "seems like a cool place to spend a few years" or "has a cool vibe."

As mentioned above, there are a number of jobs available, but Anon is probably above doing them (s/he would probably say "overqualified"), and who can blame him/her for not doing a menial job to make rent when Mommy and Daddy will continue to subsidize a lifestyle of pretending you're still in college?

Maybe I just have way too many old college friends who have yet to leave adolescence and realize how ridiculous it is to be patching together bartending-on-show-nights gigs while their parents pay for their apartments.

And don't get me wrong: I was a victim of the economy, too. When I graduated I moved back in with my folks and had trouble finding work. But I certainly didn't go online and bitch about other people applying for jobs. Instead, I worked my ass off, got internships and found employment. Hey, the American way!

Oregonmetry you DO have a point, I am just hoping said ANON is not one of those idiots, and yes I know too many people like that too. I too have struggled and currently am again but I fend for myself. I just don't like people to make assumptions, but over all you seem to be an intelligent balanced individual. I think what Anon is going through is frustration at the job market here which is often not based on what you know but WHOM you know. C'est la vie. Also, sorry I promise not to post again whilst in the throes of roid rage, bahahaha
