It always seems to be on the car driver to keep things running smoothly on the road. If you are a pedestrian or using the road with some kind of conveyance (car, bike,etc.) there are going to be obstacles along the way. Traffic is basically organized chaos. Learn to deal with it as part of everyday life instead of getting so upset that you are still angry by the time you make it home. I would hate to see you handle something really bad

Getting car-doored is a routine hazard for cyclists and one that can be avoided. There are always going to be obstacles along the way, but throwing open a car door in the path of a cyclist needlessly requires them to try to brake in time. Even an alert cyclist can lose control of the bike, hit the car door, or veer into the path of other traffic. Checking before opening the door is a simple safety measure, like a pedestrian looking before walking into the street.

I have seen a city bus take off a car door, busting it off its hinges and sending it flying out into the street. That one experience has made me a confirmed traffic checker before I open my door. Man, it was something! It really flew! The bus, by the way, did not stop.

Yeah? I saw a woman who was blocking my driveway (yet again) throw her door open to have it get hit by a passing car.
I was laughing my ass off. She had it coming.

Right on I,A. Just because you found a parking spot doesn't mean you're in a parking lot where you can throw your door open as soon as you turn the engine off.

It gets to the nerve of me when people just pop open their door like they own the street. Or they'll jaywalk right into my path as I'm riding like I'm not a threat to them. I had people yell @ me to relax, chill whatever FUCK look where your going I have the fucking right of way I don't feel like shaving off my brake pads for you! I stop only for the sake of myself but what kills me are the "I'm so awesome" brake-less fixed gear that can't control their bike to stop in a timely (safely) manner. LOOK FOR FUCK SAKE OF SANITY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
