Jesus is "just alright" its fitting, but if you're a grown up, you must know by now that jesus is just a religious avatar. There, suck on it. Your pal, Glenn.
I hate that roundabout.
There was a article in the paper a year or two ago saying that they were going to take down the stop-signs entering the circle, as studies have showed that it moves traffic along quicker and is actually safer.
Still nothing.
There are bus-stops on the circle itself, and thus crosswalks... but I wish they'd move the bus-stops and crosswalks and take down the stop signs and approach this more like they do with traffic circles back east.
Besides, I hate getting stuck behind overly-cautious drivers afraid to merge.
The real problem there is that roundabout has stop signs when clearly yield signs are more appropriate. Join me in being a proactive citizen and suggest this change to the Portland Bureau of Transport:
Good idea, and I'll try it, but I kinda doubt they will change. I already called them once asking about it when it was clear they had no intention about removing the stop signs. I think they are looking at the pedestrians crossing - which is why I think they should move the cross-walks and bus stops. But then the home owners that live on that circle are thinking it will turn into a freeway / free-for-all out their door, right?
I also got an issue with those extended curbs, like the huge on on NE 57th down from Sandy. They push bikers out into the middle of the road. I want to bitch-slap whatever genius figured out this was a good idea.
I called them on that too, and was told they are safer, but I fail to see how. Turning right around one can be a bitch. Some are much smaller, and not as obtrusive, but that one on 57th? sheesh.
Interesting. Nice work on calling... Yeah, I think another problem that made the circle worse is putting bus stops right in the middle to obscure the view.
