Then I guess you just didn't get what IA was alluding to? And making an excellent point, BTW. No kid in their right mind (or most adults either!) is going to obey a threatening stranger who is creepily following them.
I'm not much of a fan about "Stranger Danger" paranoia. I hate it when I'm walking down a street, see a mother and a youngster coming towards me and they act like they don't see me. Like I'm going to kidnap them or something. That's too scared. It's not a good way to live, always worrying that someone's "gonna getcha!"
And the fact that something occasionally happens, somewhere in the U.S., doesn't justify living like that, in my opinion. Living in fear because there's a 1 in 300 million chance that Zimmerman might be there is a little nuts.
There's a lot more to fear that just the Zimmermans of the world. Ask any woman who's ever walked anywhere alone. There are a lot of predators out there of various types, and that's a sad reality. You have to be aware and alert about your personal safety - which includes being suspicious of people following you.
Really, don't take it personally. It just has to happen once to someone you know, your to you personally to make everyone a potential threat. Especially if they are bigger than you. Better safe than sorry. I have had a friend kidnapped and raped just walking through the park. I've heard of many kids adhere to stranger danger and avoid getting into the car with someone they don't know. That's the point, they don't know. I understand being a little hurt, but it's not like they are friends ignoring you, they are just trying to protect themselves.
