Seriously? This is your big bitch where you had to write an I, A in order to vent? I can't think of anyone who would be angry about asking the city to enforce the developer to include off street parking in their design of this apartment building -- so either you're the developer or some dumb idiot who wants to see more cars clogging up the streets in the surrounding neighborhood.
2
Doogie is a fucking idiot. Car-free apartments are the way of the future. And just like IA said, if you want to live in a dense, inner urban neighborhood like Richmond, you can deal with things like cars parked on the streets.

By the way, do you know how much cheaper it is to build an apartment building without parking and how much less they have to charge for rent because of it.

Fuck anyone who opposes this. NIMBYism at its worst.
3
You win, Anon! Mayor Adams just announced an end to all limits on and rules about development because you live in a shitty neighborhood.
4
Be sure to let the poor, marginalized and disenfranchised residents around you know that you did something about this----you complained anonymously on a website! I am sure they will feel vindicated by your valiant efforts on the Portland Mercury to bring awareness to this issue; I hope that you weren't having to dodge stray bullets and keep robbers at bay while taking the time to write this, but if you did, YOU'RE A HERO.

Thank god the poor have people like you to advocate for them!

(Coming to I,A to bitch about others bitching = first world cry baby.)

Hmmm...egocentric, complains about "first world problems" as if he weren't a facilitator of them, is living in an imaginary "boys in the hood" reality where he is the hero and lastly, is too lazy to be bothered with simple things like research and rational thought- hello DamosA.
6
There isn't a single neighborhood in Portland where your concerns for your safety are warranted. I assume you just fear minorities and are a white unaware bigot. FYI, I want to steal all your shit AND kill you.
7
What is "Nimbyism"?
8
@tabitharat: It's the opposite of "Gumbyism" (Groovy, use my back yard!).
9
nimby=Not In My Back Yard.

I also think it's bullshit that they don't have parking planned for that building. There are already issues with parking in that area, and having a bunch of high density housing without parking is bullshit.

Do you really think people with cars aren't going to live there? Maybe the builder can buy the lot across the street that is never used for parking.

Portland is part of the first world, right?
11
Ah..ok..learnin' new stuff all the time.
12
And "first world problems" is still a lazy response to actual issues faced by actual people. It also begs a lazy response ala "typical third-world whining" or something.
13
Oh what almost getting shot missed by 1 yard if the guy proceeded and at the same time dodging getting robbed 3 times in the same day? Naw. Come down home.

It's an eye to the future you fucktard. As older cities become more "environmental" they increase in density. It should be required that all new developments have underground parking. Trolling for parking burns gas, causes tickets and creates a hostile/frustrating neighborhood environment. Cars are a fact of life. Get on board with requiring developers to ease the impact of multi-level urban construction. Plus, more street parking creates a better environment for local businesses.

Stop being a luddite and realize the reality of urban growth. Be aggressive about solutions.

Please wait...
