Ever raise a puppy? I doubt it. If you let 'em sniff everything they want, you won't be going far. Dogs are pack animals and it's up to the owner to be the pack leader-- the dog follows you, not the other way around. I'm all for pampering animals like they're small humans or whatever, pretending they're ultra-inteligent 'n shit, but when it's time to EXERCISE THE DOG, hey, motherfucker's gonna get corrected. I'm not talking about being cruel, just not letting your high-energy animal call the shots.
Christ, it's posts like these that make me nostalgic for 30 years ago when the Pearl District was just a neighborhood of run-down light industrial properties and derelict warehouses that I would never ever visit or even think about... Ah, those were the days!
I just spent $128 bucks getting my dogs stomach pumped because she ate a rat on one of our walks. I am planning on yanking the leash in the near future.
Arg - I agree to a point. I'm a female and a dog owner and when I see this, from a male or female owner, it breaks my heart. You can be a dominant leader to your tiny dog w/o pulling it off the ground. Remember, this is your dog's walk - let them exercise their bodies and mind. They're probably trapped inside all day.
Ok, that's a pretty good image. I think I'll be walkin around the Pearl more often.
