"...a great like Jay Z..."

A 'great' what?? A great shame? A great ambassador for low-brow, idiotic, vulture-'music'? A great joke with a sad, head-shaking punchline? A great actor for being able to keep a straight face when, in the future, he tries to explain to his daughter that she's not just a fuck-hole for men who want to tap her? -- Maybe he'll just read her off some of his lyrics:

"...Uh, uh, uh, uh, it's big pimpin' baby
It's big pimpin', spendin' G's
Feel me, uh huh uh, uh huh
Ge-ge-geyeah, geyeah
Ge-ge-geyeah, geyeah

You know I thug 'em, fuck 'em, love 'em, leave 'em
'Cause I don't fuckin' need 'em
Take 'em out the hood, keep 'em lookin good
But I don't fuckin' feed 'em

First time they fuss I'm breezin'
Talki'n 'bout, what's the reasons?
I'm a pimp in every sense of the word, bitch
Better trust than believe 'em

In the cut where I keep 'em
Till I need a nut, till I need to beat the guts
Then it's, beep beep and I'm pickin' 'em up
Let 'em play with the dick in the truck..."

FUCK JAY-Z AND HIS ILK.

@arenit:

No, i just have ears and taste, and think that such blatant objectification of women is pathetic -- SHOPLIFTED SOUNDS & SLOPPY 'LYRICS' ≠ MUSIC

I feel the same way about Eminem and Kid Rock. And anyone else who is such a proud asshole, regardless of their skin tone or genre.

I'm not a big fan of the Beastie Boys, either, but i'm pretty sure that the closest they got to any of that kind of mentality was with 'Girls' -- correct me if i'm wrong. But rather than jokingly-joking about girls doing the dishes, Jay-Z, Kid Rock, etc. take it to a whole new level.....a much, much lower level.

And i'm a mutt, by the way -- part Honkey, part Spic, part Irish, part Ape, part etc.

"And i'm a mutt, by the way -- part Honkey, part Spic, part Irish, part Ape, part etc."

and completely, condescendingly annoying...

please regale us your immaculate, non-denigrating/objectifying taste in music, pretty please?

lastly, @human in training...

some of the most supposedly "with it" musicians i've run across (politically, socially, etc.) have been some of the biggest pieces of shit i have had the greatest displeasure of sharing the same room. all because the message is "right on", doesn't always make the messenger a saint. if i limited my listening habits to music that's ethically "pure", my record collection would be pretty small.

now excuse me, i'm gonna go listen to music made by assholes.

@ greige:

I don't deny that some of the artists i support/enjoy might be assholes themselves, but if they are, i wouldn't know it because they're not flagrantly spelling it out for me via their lyrics.

I'm not saying they should be censored, i'm simply saying that i, personally, don't forgive them of this and thus don't care to give them my money or praise. Anyway, lyrics of such caliber usually come with equally-as-shitty music, so i don't usually have to deny myself much that i would miss. I'm sure there are a few exceptions out there, though.

And i'm sure that i wouldn't enjoy having a beer with plenty of folks whose art i do enjoy. And i'm sure the feeling would be mutual.

Stay tuned for more regalement.

Who cares if Jay-Z objectifies women? Most Jay-Z fans I know ARE women. Chris Rock has a whole bit about how most women don't give a flying fuck about misogynistic lyrics if the beat is good (and Jay-Z has good beats galore).

And why are you bringing up Kid Rock? Are you a 50 year old hillbilly? Who the fuck references Kid Rock?? Oh, that was your attempt to prove you weren't racist. Mention Eminem and Kid Rock. Gotcha.
13
Man. I've been made. The jig is up. I'm a racist because i think Jay-Z is a jerk and his 'music' sucks.

But, make no mistake: I'm still a pimp at heart. And i still have nothing but love for *all* of my bitches, and i will continue to "let 'em play with the dick in the truck" as often i want, even if they jam to music i don't enjoy.

(I mentioned Kid Rock because he's as sloppy of a bitch as Jay-Z is -- i have them listed in the same category.)

And "good beats galore"? Jesus. Amazing the range of taste out there. Anyway, i never meant to imply that those who enjoy music that i don't are assholes, or whatever. I love and respect plenty of people whose musical tastes are diametrically different than mine -- one of my dearest friends loves Frank Zappa.

Yeah, Adam/MCA along with the rest of the BB were sorry commercial sellouts who disowned their own music, slut-shamed other artists such as The Prodigy, and even went so far as the change (white wash) lyrics in past songs. They HAD been once great a long time ago.

A looong time ago...
15
hey this is relevant!
16
You know what isn't subjective at all? Musical taste.

Ice prez wrote it....

Please wait...
