REI

People who incessantly return shit are the worst. The change was a long time coming and the new return policy is still damn good and better than most.

I can't believe REI won't let me return a stinky 15-year-old sleeping bag and a pair of hiking boots whose soles fell off two years ago... Those cheap bastards.
3
Sorry, I, A.

I am an REI member, but as with so many things, looks like assholes ruined it for everyone: http://bit.ly/18TkeS5

They weren't honoring it before. At least now they're being honest.

I had a rain jacket and the lining just degraded. No damage, very light, casual wear-and-tear. Just the chemicals in the lining made it fall apart after 5 years.

If I had known it was a 5-year jacket I might have gotten something else. But when I brought it back, they said, "Oh, yeah, those are only good for 4 or 5 years." I was very unsatisfied with this reply.

I have numerous jackets that last more than 5 years. In fact, for a jacket to just undergo a spontaneous exothermic reaction and decompose, to literally not be shelf-stable, is almost textbook defective.

So fuck REI. The recent "uptick" in returns probably just reflects the shit materials they've been using in their products for years, without anyone knowing. Now that the stuff the customers thought was 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed For Ever has turned out to be crap, REI's pulling the rug out from under everyone's feet.

Fuck REI hard.

@Satorical

Please move to a different city if you're just going to believe some retyped press release.

Jamdox, are you some kind of fucking nut. Returning a jacket after five years of wear! Were you actually able to look them in the face? Did you wear dark glasses? Just where would you draw the line?
7
I could understand a zipper going. Or if parts of the exterior started looking worn. But the waterproof lining just turned yellow and crumbled.

Who sells a $100 jacket that you can literally leave in the closet for five years, open the door and find it disintegrating?
8
More importantly, who would buy said jacket?
9
THAT'S THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT
10
Don't blame REI just because you can't take care of a simple garment. Sounds like you may have a mold problem in your closet.
11
You're an idiot. Learn to read.
12
Fine then. Instead, you paid top dollar for something that you never wore and still fell apart? Then tried to convince the good folks at REI that it wore out on its own? Congrats, you are as stupid as you think I am.
13
I agree with ill paxton. You left your $100 jacket in a closet for five years; your jacket wasn't textbook defective, you were.

Please wait...
