I think the fashion stuff is a waste of space, too. But then, i'm betting that this paper isn't published solely with me and my particular tastes in mind.

And despite the fact that her usual subject matter is of little interest to me, it's plain to see that Skinner is easily one of the best writers in the building.

Even as a sporadic onlooker, the fashion stuff seems true. It seems very cliquish. Some lines get constant coverage for doing nothing important or original while other lines get zero mentions for some odd reason. She also seems to have a weird personal grudge over the style & fashion awards (at least they're trying.. she expected perfection on day #1?) I just get a weird 'if you're not my friend...' vibe from the Mercury fashion stuff.

"It had interesting things to read. Interesting things to do".

Like what? What, precisely, is different between what the Mercury used to be compared with what it is now??

Also: WRONG FORUM! Write a god-damned letter to the editor if you don't like the staff or editor or their stories about fluoride or what you view as their failure to write about you getting sexually harassed at city hall or whatever.

Where else you a gonn'a go? Facebutt is hacked by the NSA!

The Merc is far from any kind of real journalism; they steal stories from the Portland Tribune! I mean... What the fuck!!??

Did you think that professional wrestling on television was real, too? Come on, now. We can all agree that while the Mercury does have some interesting stories from time to time, it's hardly going to be the number one source for investigative journalism. Just relent to the fact it's purely for entertainment and perhaps you won't be so stressed the next time you pick up their paper. Or better yet, if you're looking for some real news, try some real newspapers. I heard they are just teeming with news stories!

I listened to the Mercury before it was cool!
