Walmart is everyones favorite whipping boy of the moment. There really isn't one heck of a lot of difference between it and Target, but don't even try telling that to the self-rightous protesters.
I/A I love the way it's always said "if you don't like it quit"
Maybe the kids at home want a couple Christmas presents. If
they quit now that is'nt gonna happen. Yes and let's stick up
for the Suits that Play us like a Fiddle. Let's stick up for
B & E thugs that rip off presents from Charity Centers they
should'nt have had all those presents laying around right.
And Come On!! Comparing TV station employees with
Walmart slaves I don't think so. You've so empathetic.
Enjoy your Turkey.
The reason people say that this is an issue, is that the workers are too poor to "quit if they don't like their schedule." So, the solution is to boycott the stores until they close on the holidays, giving these people some forced, unpaid days off.
Personally, if I was in a situation where I felt that I couldn't quit a job that was an affront to my dignity because I was too poor, I think I would like the option to work as many days as possible. And that's doubly true for days that have a pay differential.
If you live a life where $100 can make a big difference, then working Thanksgiving can make that difference. And, the people who are least able to say "no," are exactly the people who will get the most relative benefit from that money. I just don't see how this is so obvious a problem as many assert it to be.
