Do you guys not understand how many 20-somethings apply to every available position in this town? It might not take a lot of time to respond to one half-assed resume, but it sure as shit takes time to respond to 100.

Sorry if that's not what you're bitching about. This just reads like a rant we've already seen 2 or 3 times this year.

snow isn't really flaky. Dandruff is flaky. Pie crust. Now that's flaky.

People always say to follow up after sending in resumes or interviewing. Has this ever worked? Has anyone ever said "Well, they're obviously not qualified and can't even work when we need them, but hell, they're determined and that's good enough for me!"?

Ah Lustlab.

Damn it Boober, beat me to it (though I would have gone "casual encounter" so good on you keeping it within the family).

I'd advise any employer to never use Craigslist to hire. You get the absolute dumbest people Portland has to offer. I learned my lesson the hard way, interviewing about 7 people in a row who were awkward, unhygienic, no eye contact (or the woman who was so overly enthusiastic it seemed like a SNL skit), really fake "I'M DYING to work for your company :)" shill. It's sad because most applicants have been groomed to be overly enthused bullshit artists but the downside for these applicants is local companies who aren't into the corporate-zombie-P.C. lifestyle are repulsed by that behavior. Just be yourself and don't overdo the sales pitch.

For real, assisse. This is especially true for businesses that have genuinely creepy fanatic customers. They're happy to take creepy fanatics' money, but nobody wants to hire the creepy fanatics.

The competition is great, and they really don't want you to check back. If you want this job, you have one chance to do your thing. If you don't get it, don't go into a spiral.

Always show interest in the job and listen like you care.

Could be a roommate search as well. Either way, welcome to Portland. And welcome to the Portland Craigslist experience.

It's getting to the point that even the toothless bums aren't responding to my requests for HJ's.

Please wait...
