If this is the guy who was following me and my friend last night:
1. We were in what would be the bike lane in a low-density, residential neighborhood in way out North Portland;
2. There was no line of cars, it was just you (everyone else passed);
3. I made three turns in quick succession to get away from you;
4. Once I started becoming genuinely afraid that the hollering guys in the bed of your pickup were going to grab, rape and murder me, I pulled in behind the parked cars on the side of the road;
5. We weren't talking until you passed us, and the sentence coming out of my mouth was, "I was starting to worry that that guy was stalking us."
It's actually a relief to know that instead of sitting behind the wheel and planning my imminent demise, you were actually griping about how you only had 22 feet of road instead of 25. If it's too exasperating for you to live here, I will totally cry when you leave.
Hey jerigonza: I am the author of this rant and no, it wasn't you. If you had any semblance of reading comprehension, you would have noticed that I specifically said these skaters were on Albina. I don't know what world you live in, but I don't think most people would consider N Albina a "low-density residential neighborhood way out in North Portland." The asshole skaters were, in fact, taking up an entire lane… like I CLEARLY stated. The first such incident occurred on Northeast Prescott, for your information. But, I like how you went ahead and assumed you were the asshole skater in question and felt the need to make a case anyway. I hope you don't live your everyday life in such a manner.
Well, Hindered Driver, I did the research for you, and while skateboarding in the street would appear to be legal (skateboarders are given something like cyclist status), they are required to yield right of way to any traffic approaching from behind when skating under the speed limit, which is almost always. So, the situation which you describe would appear to have been illegal.
And I'm deducting two points for commenting on your own post.
Drives them CRAZY.
I'm not 100% positive I'd report a hit and run if it involved a skateboarder.

Public streets are for the public, and not just for douchebags in motor vehicles.

They were both at least 30 years old. It was beyond pathetic.
Idiots.
