Pickathons Starlight Stage
Pickathon's Starlight Stage Tim LaBarge

Pickathon's announced some new additions to their lineup this year. Some great new performers have been added to the 2016 festival, which takes place at Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley, Oregon, on August 5-7. Joining the ranks of Wolf Parade, Jeff Tweedy, Beach House, and many more are the following:

Joseph
Ry X
Cory Henry
Promised Land Sound
Town Mountain
Myke Bogan
Blossom
Caleb Klauder & Reeb Willms
Open Mike Eagle
Los Cojolites
Chanti Darling
There's some great Portland presence on the bill now, including rapper Myke Bogan, electro R&B act Chanti Darling, and returning Pickathon favorites Joseph. Plus that Mac fellow all the kids like!

Pickathon has also announced their schedule, a logistical puzzle that they've nevertheless nailed down many months in advance. Take a look at who is playing which stage, and when, and make your plans accordingly. Some things of note: Instead of two main stages in the field, this year there will only be one. Pickathon says, "We’ll have a slightly larger, better designed, more central main stage that will no doubt be visually stunning." This means more music featured on the other stages—such as the Woods Stage, whose schedule will extend all the way to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.

To help us celebrate the announcement, Pickathon is allowing the Mercury and our sister paper The Stranger to premiere a new series of live videos, shot at last year's festival. Here's the inaugural premiere episode of this spring's Starlight Series, which was shot at my favorite of all Pickathon stages, the Starlight Stage. For the premiere episode, Sonny and the Sunsets play "Secret Plot" to a late-night Pickathon crowd. Check it out.

Your appetite whetted? Thought so. Time to head over to Pickathon's site and lock down your tickets for this year's fest.
