And this is a perfect example of why government cannot be run like a business. In business, you may survive even if you make a decision that angers some of your customers. In government, OTOH, the man at the top (and his party) are held responsible for EVERYTHING, good or ill.
And this doesn't even get into that whole "representative democracy" stuff, where elected officials are sometimes held to account by their constituents. I know that incumbents usually win reelection thanks to gerrymandering, but that's not a certainty. President Trump cannot shield Mr. or Mrs. Congresscritter from the outrage of their constituents.
