Dolly Parton is one of the best people on this planet, and today is her 72nd birthday. Over the past seven decades, Parton has brought unimaginable joy to her fellow humans, whether she's making beautiful country music, starring in cinematic masterpieces like Rhinestone and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, posting uplifting messages on her social media, or playing a tiny saxophone (as pictured above).

There are literally thousands of reasons to love Dolly, but I'll name just a few: her voice (it's bananas)! Her sky-high wigs! Her head-to-toe rhinestones! Her catchphrases (AKA Dollyisms), like "I always just thought if you see somebody without a smile, give 'em yours!" "Hard Candy Christmas" is the closest thing I have to religion, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

It's time to celebrate her blessed existence, and thankfully, tonight Portland's got a place to do it—the Fixin' To in St. Johns is throwing her a birthday party, with Matty Charles and Katie Rose, Doll Parts (members of Havania Whaal, MELT, and Wampire), and Dead Lee covering her greatest hits. Plus, there'll be a karaoke afterparty (I would like to call dibs on the Heartbreaker cut "Baby I'm Burnin'").

Dolly Parton, we'll always love you too. Please live for another 300 years.
