Yesterday was opening day for Poison's Rainbow, the new bar from Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock that combines the name of a Ronnie James Dio band with the name of a Rikki Rocket band. Poison's Rainbow exists in the former Red Flag space, at 344 NE 28th Avenue, and unlocks its doors at 3 pm on weekdays and 11 am on weekends. The bar's Instagram gives some idea of the décor inside, although a report from Eater says "the bar’s somewhat mellow interior—a few booths and tables, a tastefully small white tiger behind the bar—is almost a shock."

The food at Poison's Rainbow comes from Ranch Pizza, the Sicilian-style pizza joint that's opening a brick-and-mortar on NE Dekum later this year. Whole pies and slices are available, as are other pizza-adjacent sides like breadsticks and salad (view the menu here). The bar opens after the standard delays that are de rigueur in opening any food-related business in Portland (although no word if putting "Poison" in the name of the establishment raised any red flags with the health department). Brock, Ranch Pizza, and the Poison's Rainbow crew have come through the gauntlet and are now ready to give you alcohol and very thick pizza every day of the week.
