Horrible decision. I get it - it saves on expenses. But it's definitely NOT better for serving your customers. Your readers reliably pick up the publication every week. That will end with the shift. Why? I've seen the Seattle version - it's too big and bulky. It's out of date. It doesn't provide timely news. So - Keep the current format. It works, advertising is strong, and it has timely info. The shift will diminish readership, just like it has in Seattle. And that means fewer advertisers and thus less net income for the publication despite the lowered expenses.
