UPDATE Sat 9 pm: The shows are cancelled. I would moan and complain about this thrill ride of emotions we've all been onโ€”the chance to purchase surprise Chris Tucker tickets dangled, and then yanked awayโ€”but it sounds like something serious occurred.

Brad Grossman, co-owner of Helium writes, "Unfortunately, some very unexpected news occurred late last night. One of Chris' family members has passed and the show has been canceled." That sucks, and the Tucker family has our condolences. See you next time, man.

Two nights of Chris Tucker stand-up comedy shows at Helium Comedy Club just went up for sale. The surprise addition follows a cancellation of Jay Mohr from the venue's calendar.

"We've been working on getting Chris Tucker to the club for years," Brad Grossman, co-owner of Helium, said via email. "Apparently, the stars aligned."

Tucker, a former Def Jam comic who stole hearts as DJ Ruby Rhod in The Fifth Element and went on to star in the Rush Hour film franchise alongside Jackie Chan, appears to be doing these special Portland shows independent of a larger tour. So if you want to see Tucker anytime soon, better make it your beeswax to grip these tickets.

Here's Tucker's hilarious 2015 stand-up bit about his friendship with Michael Jackson. Happy Friday! (Tucker also played Smokey in the iconic stoner comedy Friday.)
