Oh, Canada.
In a coy little subtweet, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded to the Trump administration's egregious lack of empathy for people who happen to be born in countries other than the U.S. with this:

Canada is not without its problems, but when it comes to accommodating refugees, it's one of the more tolerant nations on earth. Since 2015, our better/wiser/righter neighbor to the north has welcomed over 50,000 Syrian refugees. Donald Trump, in comparison, kicked off his presidency by banning travelers from six Muslim majority countries, including war-torn Syria. In the first three months of this year, the U.S. accepted all of 11 refugees from Syria, and, of course, Trump has spent the last few months separating adult immigrants and asylum seekers on the southern border from their kids.
In light of all the terrible, no good, very bad shit happening right now in the U.S., you may be tempted to seek refuge in Canada yourself. Unfortunately, the human Ken doll running Canada has yet to respond to my own request for asylum, but, according to the Gouvernement du Canada, for asylum to be granted you must be unable to return to your home country out of "a well-founded fear of persecution" based on your "race, religion, political opinion, nationality, or membership in a social group, such as women or people of a particular sexual orientation." So, while non-white, non-male, non-straight, non-Christian, non-cis, non-Republican Americans probably can't claim asylum yet, just give it a little more time.
