Good morning, Portland! Hope you enjoyed the weekend's clear skies—because it's amount to get real hazy AND hawt outside.

Evacuations to the East: A cliff fire near Hood River forced evacuations from nearby homes and a major hotel Sunday. Firefighters have yet to extinguish the flames.

Guns for Kids Rally: Oh, look, Patriot Prayer decided to hold a protest in its own state for once. This time, PP met up with other alt-right groups in Seattle to protest a campaign to raise the legal age in Washington state for people wanting to buy a semi-automatic weapon. Three men were arrested total on misdemeanor assault charges.

Derby Day: Here's my favorite whip from the 21st annual Soapbox Derby on Mount Tabor.

Surprise, Surprise:One of Donald Trump's speechwriters was fired after CNN discovered he had delivered a speech at a 2016 conference frequented by white nationalists. The White House certainly knew this before they decided to hire the guy TWO years ago. But, of course, ethics only matters when the media points it out.

Truth Update: According to Rudy Giuliani (I forgot what title he has at this point and do not care), "truth isn't truth," at least when its Trump's truth vs Mueller's. See for yourself:

Awful Childbirth News: Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pulled over and arrested a man who was driving his pregnant wife to the hospital in Southern California. The woman was left at a gas station to figure out her next steps. In a surveillance camera footage, she looks visibly distraught.

Great Childbirth News: New Zealand's minister for women (and associate minister for health) Julie Anne Genter, biked herself to the hospital over the weekend, carrying a 40-week old baby, to give birth.

The Pope Abides: Pope Francis penned a letter in response to the most recent cases of Catholic clergy sexually assaulting young boys across the world. “We showed no care for the little ones; we abandoned them," he writes.

Biles for Miles: Gymnast Simone Biles became the first woman to win all five gold medals at the national gymnastics championships in nearly 25 years. She still gave her world a "B+," a shout out to perfectionists everywhere.
