Feast your ears on the Mercury's October playlist, a selection of songs from bands playing in town this month, which I will hereafter refer to as "Rocktober" because, put simply, it will rock.

The proof is in the pudding: Ty Segall—the mystical warlock of garage rock—comes to town twice this month, first with White Fence to perform songs from their collaborative new LP Joy, then again for a solo acoustic show at the Aladdin. New York rapper Junglepussy, Kari Faux, and Portland's own Maarquii are all on the same bill, meaning the city might spontaneously combust from too much greatness in one place.

Also on the calendar this month: house music genius Yaeji, saxophone virtuoso Kamasi Washington, and R&B collective the Internet, plus two incredible concerts on Halloween: hip-hop icons Digable Planets and a Buffy the Vampire Slayer tribute show where local bands will cover songs played at the Bronze (if you don't know what the Bronze is, please spend the next 31 days binge-watching Buffy). A blessed Rocktober to you and yours.

Be sure to check our Things to Do Music calendar for more details about upcoming shows in Portland!
