To commenter #1, law enforcement has been notoriously poor at responding to and assisting victims of sexual assault, with many victims eventually feeling as if they have been victimized a second time after going through the questioning and evidence collection process. If "call 911" is your answer, that has to be combined with extensive training for law enforcement as to how to properly and sensitively handle these types of matters.
It feels like a massive shift is currently happening, we're seeing a lot of very brave women step forward, we're seeing a lot of men finally realize the extent of our cultural problem for how we consider and treat women, and hopefully because of that some good will come out of this utter shit show of a nomination.
