Over the weekend, running back Cross Patton, son of OutKast rapper Big Boi, committed to the University of Oregon football team as a preferred walk-on for next season. Patton made his verbal commitment at a celebratory ceremony in Georgia on Friday:
"I just want to thank my family: mom and my dad, coach Davis, my football team, with that being said, I want to announce that I committed to the University of Oregon,” Patton said.
Patton was then handed a lovely green and yellow SnapBack cap (colors that look FANTASTIC on him), and celebrated by dancing around with his friends. The 5-foot-7, 185 pound running back had received scholarship offers from schools like Columbia, Butler and Virginia State before committing to join the Oregon Ducks squad.
Does this mean Big Boi will be one of the famous faces at Oregon football games next year? All signs point to yes. Does this mean there is a possibility of an OutKast reunion at Autzen Stadium? God, I fucking hope so. Big Boi reunited with OutKast member André 3000 earlier this year to celebrate the high school graduation of Big Boi's other son Andre "Bamboo" Patton II.
Regardless, it'll be fun to see a living hip-hop legend sporting duck colors on the regular. Follow Big Boi on Instagram to catch all his proud papa posts. After the most recent and devastating loss to Washington State on Saturday, I'll take all the happy, Duck-related alerts I can get.
