The Trailblazers continued their hot start to the season with a nice win over a surprisingly good Los Angeles Clippers team on Thursday night. It was what might be called a "sloppy win" as the team shot only 41% from the field, but they did other things well, like offensive rebounding, and the backcourt of Lillard and McCollum stepped up again, notching 48 points between them. The final score was 116-105.
The Clippers weren't supposed to be good this season, but they've proved to be a tough match. One of the reasons is they've been able to get good minutes out of the largest man in the NBA, 7'3" Boban Marjanovic. This Serbian big man has been around the league for a while, but hasn't been able to play consistently, either due to injury or general slowness. But he's picked up his game at age 30. Take a look at this picture of him meeting 4'11" actress, Kristen Chenowith, down in Oklahoma City. Those hands!
Despite missing a lot of shots, the Blazers were able to score 37 points in the first quarter. This was mostly due to free throws, which the Blazers did shoot well. The Clippers kept up with the pace, though, and narrowed the gap to 4 points at the half, 57-61. Here's a look at some of the fans roaming the hallways:
See, it's possible to sport Blazer gear, and rock at the same time. Hi-tops!

The second half saw the Blazers seemingly pull away at various times, but they could never quite put it in the bag. Blazer Center Jusuf Nurkic fouled out and second year big man Zach Collins filled in admirably, blocking several shots and scoring 10 points. The Blazer bench has been very solid all year on this night was no exception.
Damian Lillard showed why he's first team All-NBA by eluding the Clippers defense and scoring big at all the right times. Perhaps he was inspired by the presence of pop star Pharrell Williams, who sat courtside and stuck around to chat with Dame and CJ after the game. Look at the love!
The Blazers are now 9-3 on the season, an excellent start. They face a big test on Sunday when they host the highly respected Boston Celtics in what should be a big time match up. Come cheer them on, Rip City!
