This is a big week for wine.

Every year on the third Thursday of November (this Thursday, Nov 15! Tomorrow!), wineries across the world release the wonder that is Beaujolais Nouveau, a barely fermented wine made from Gamay grapes harvested this fall. The resulting wine is light, fruity and super fun to taste. And on Thursday, SE Wine Collective is doing a free Beaujolais Nouveau tasting from 5 pm to 7 pm at its spot on SE Division and 35th Place. Free sips from Bow & Arrow, Chemeketa Wine Program, Division Winemaking Co., Fausse Piste, Flat Brim, Fossil & Fawn, Johan // Morgan Beck, St. Reginald Parish, Scenic Valley, and more are included.

I’d start there, and then get your ass over to St. Jack, which is throwing a big old Nouveau block party, with proceeds going to Pueblo Unido, an amazing charity that teams up people who are being deported by furnishing lawyers to aid them. Tickets are $55 and include food from St. Jack, Arden, Ataula, OK Omens, Coopers Hall, Grassa, Nostrana, Bantam Tavern, OUI! @ S.E. Wine Collective, Pip's Original Doughnuts, and Ranch Pizza.

Drinks include winemakers and hard alcohol and beer from: Shipwreck, Bull Run, Diageo, William Grant & Sons, Aria, Freeland Spirits, Grey Goose, St. Germaine, Martin Woods, Day Wines, Hooray For You Wine Co., Division Winemaking Co., Loop de Loop Wines, Holden Wine Co., Terriors Originels and Rosenstadt Brewery.

Tickets may be purchased at stjackpdx.com or by calling 503-360-1281.
If you’re busy Thursday, there’s a chance to drink a lot of good natural wine at the new bottle shop being opened at NE Killingsworth’s Dame, owned by Jane Smith. Twenty bucks gets pours from 12 Oregon winemakers and 30-plus wines. Division Winemaking Company, Ross and Bee Maloof, Fossil & Fawn, Minimus, Beckham Estate Vineyards, Golden Cluster, Pet Sounds, Vincent, Buona Notte, Franchere, Color Collector, and others are on the list. Snacks from Dame will be for sale. Buy three bottles and get that cost waived.

Finally, head back to the SE Wine Collective Saturday between 3 pm and 6 pm, where they’re hosting a Thanksgiving wine event, aimed at perfect poultry and holiday pairings. It’s also a fundraiser for the Oregon Food Bank—so you know, again you’re drinking for charity.
