A police chase that occurred Tuesday night led to an awful commute for many Portland drivers on Wednesday morning.
At 7:30 last night, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) joined the Vancouver Police Department in pursuing a suspect involved in a Kelso, Washington shooting last month, OPB reports. That chase included an officer-involved shooting on I-84 Westbound, and ended in I-84 between 33rd and 12th, according to PPB.

PPB warned last night that both directions on I-84 between I-5 and I-205 would be closed for “several hours,” as it needed to be investigated as a crime scene. That closure bled into Wednesday morning rush-hour traffic, forcing a lot of car commuters to clog up city streets.
PPB announced that I-84 was reopened at about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
I-84 is now open! Thank you to this morning's motorists for understanding. Closing the freeway during rush hour is understandably frustrating for many. It was critical that detectives were able to gather evidence from this crime scene which involved suspects wanted for murder.

PPB will lead an investigation into the shooting. Once Vancouver Police Department officer sustained minor injuries, while a suspect sustained life-threatening injuries not related to the shooting.
