GOOD MORNING, PORTLAND! Swallow your pride, don't let your lip react. You don't wanna see my hand where my hip be at. LET'S GO TO PRESS.

As long expected, former veep and Obama bestie Joe Biden announced his intention to run for president yesterday on a "defeat Trump at all costs" platform. He'll still have to overcome some of his past problematic behavior, namely his treatment of women and Anita Hill who refuses to accept his recent, and politically expedient, apology. (While you're reading things, check out my opinion piece on why Democrats' excessive interest in white dude presidential candidates is pretty worrying.)

At an event focusing on women voters of color, Bernie Sanders gave a rocky speech that was met with boos from the crowd. (Kamala, Elizabeth, and Beto fared much better.)

A new report from the Washington Post shows how Trump, when stymied by his own aides after unsuccessfully ordering them to obstruct Mueller's investigation, turned to one of his loyalist toadies to get the job done.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein fired back at those who criticized his handling of the Mueller report, saying that the amount of Russian interference in American elections that we know about is just the tip of the iceberg.

Changing his tune once again, Trump is now imploring Americans to get vaccinated against measles.

The US economy may be growing faster than expected, but there's some troubling news wrapped in.

The self-proclaimed "commander" of the New Mexico militia group that was harassing immigrants at the US/Mexico border has been assaulted by his prison mates. That's too bad.

Avengers: Endgame. I don't have anything to say about it other than federal law requires we at least mention it.

IN BRITNEY SPEARS NEWS: Brit has reportedly left a treatment facility after experiencing mental health issues, discounting social media fears that she was being held there against her will.

Taylor Swift has been counting down to something for the past couple of weeks and now we know that SHE IS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT. She does have a new song, though. Here it is.

IN LOCAL NEWS: E-scooters return to Portland again today just in time for this gorgeous weather. (Psst. Stay off the sidewalks, dicks.)

Local comedian (and one of the Mercury's Geniuses of Comedy) Mohanad Elshieky is suing US Customs and Border Protection after he was harassed by the agency while on a Greyhound bus in Spokane, Washington. Our Alex Zielinski has the story.

The Oregon House has approved a statewide ban on single-use plastic bags at large retailers, now the bill goes to the senate.

Now let's look at the WEATHER REPORT: Another gorgeous day with a high of 66 (and a cool, sunny weekend too)!

And finally, meet your new overlords.
