Good morning, Portland! You better not pout, because John Waters is coming to town.

Here are the headlines!

Impeach Trump: Nancy Pelosi announced this morning that House Democrats plan to draft articles of impeachment—meaning the long, winding train of impeachment is pulling into the next station. Coincidentally, I am "drafting" the "article" of Good Morning, News right now!

Impeach Bush: The New York Times has published never-before-seen illustrations by a Guantanamo inmate, based on his recollections of the CIA's torture program. They're grim, but more than worth looking at.

Cash Bail's Cost:

Stamp of Disapproval: The Trump administration has set new rules for SNAP, the federal food stamp program. By imposing new work requirements, the administration is effectively kicking 700,000 people out of the program. The rule change stems from an executive order titled "Reducing Poverty in America by Promoting Opportunity and Economic Mobility,” in case you needed some bullshit to be enraged about today.

Bustown: The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) recently released info on the Rose Lane Project, its plan to add 20 new bus-only lanes throughout the city. Read about PBOT's plans over at BikePortland, then take the official PBOT Rose Lane survey to tell them how much you love bus-only lanes, because you're a good, civic-minded Portlander.

Biketown: Portland City Council adopted new rules yesterday, requiring developers to include bike parking facilities in all new residential buildings. That means no more muddy bikes in cramped apartment units!

Cut the Schnitz: Jordan Schnitzer, one of Portland's ineffectual large adult sons, still has hopes of turning the unused Wapato Jail into the world's most inconvenient homeless shelter. Alex Zielisnki has the latest in this saga.

Sentence of the Day: "Behold treacherous weather, uncomfortable swingers’ parties, awkward teenage sexual exploration (a young Elijah Wood dry humping a young Christina Ricci in a Nixon mask), and the fleeting fragility of life."

No-Homo Hill:
