Two weeks after allowing restaurants, movie theaters, retail stores, malls, museum and libraries to reopen May 1, 2020 with 25% capacity, Texas suffered its deadliest COVID-19 day on May 14 and the state also had the most new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in a 24-hour period. Texas reported 58 COVID-19 fatalities and 1,448 newly confirmed cases on Thursday.
